Workshops conducted by:- Colin Straub (Vic), Greg Block (Vic)& Henretta Shaw (Vic). A great live-in experience with wonderful demonstrations and workshops. Greg Block's creation began with a pottery lesson while we made our container from modelling clay. Flowers used were green carnations, bark, Emu, spear grass, wheat and Mollucca Balm. A great Corporate piece.
Colin Straub created the structure in a vase using bamboo cut in the 'dog mouth' technique so that the bamboo is lodged over the rim of the vase. Cross pieces hold the frame steady and flowers used were hydrangea, trailing amaranthus, asparagus fern, iris, liliums, peppercorns, tortured willow and flax. Another great Corporate piece, especially as the flowers can be replaced.
Henretta Shaw designed the 3rd arrangement, which began by creating a sisal horn which was fashioned around a chicken wire frame and stiffened with PVA glue. When dry, the chicken wire was removed. A tatami mat was made with spear grass and sheoak leaves were bullion wired. Aspidistra leaves created height, the tatami was moulded over the sisal horn and fuschia and pale pink carnations placed and the finishing touch was a trail of pink peppercorns. This arrangement would also make a good Corporate work as the flora would have a long vase life.
